About the Book

Readings in Personality Psychology is a book of readings for undergraduate courses in personality psychology. It provides, not only primary source material, but also, original content (in the form of a first chapter and substantial introductory essays to each chapter) that provide support, context, and instruction to students about how to read in the field. In addition, the book draws on a far more diverse group of readings than is typical, including book reviews, historical works, articles from the newsletter of the Society of Personality and Social Psychology, test reviews, and the like. These advantages are outlined in greater detail in the book’s Instructor’s Preface.

The book is designed, in part, to accompany Personality: A Systems Approach, in that it follows a systems organization. An alternate Table of Contents (in the front matter) illustrates its equal potential for use with textbooks that employ a theoretical-perspectives organization to the field.
